Spooks last night on BBC1 was a bit arse. Definitely the weakest of the season to date.

Spooks last night on BBC3, on the other hand.... 8-O

Well I haven't seen 5x04 (is that right, I've totally lost track of where we are with Spooks – the one that was on BBC3 anyway); but I agree that the previous episode was pretty weak – full of itself, but weak.

5x05 on BBC3, I think. How time flies!

I've been impressed with the consistency of last season and this one so far; Seasons 2 and 3 had a clunker for every superb episode, whereas recently the episodes have been reliably very good. Even last night's BBC1 episode was okay when it wasn't being an episode of Hustle.

BBC3's episode was totally ace.

I love Spooks.

(this has saved me from updating myself with the same as above ;) )

Yep, I'm really enjoying Spooks at the moment. Good, solid, clever entertainment. Even on its off days when it mistakes gimmicky for edgy, or topical for deep, it's still extremely good value for money.

Have just watched a download of ep 5. It was bloody awful.

If objecting to episodes making no sense, containing massive plot holes and making me not care very much about What Happens by the end makes me a curmudgeon, then I plead guilty as charged.

Aha! You admit it!

But actually there probably were a lot of plot holes in a tale as tortuous as this one, yet I still cared What Happened. Spooks is full of overly convenient plotting at the best of times.

the BBC3 ep... was pretty convoluted. Which isn't unusual for Spooks, but it just more so this time around, seemed shoddier, especially considering What Happened - its importance should've meant it was a really good ep. Good acting from the leads in that story, though.

Okay, yes, convoluted, and I was more commenting on What Happened than anything else, but it was a decent enough episode, I thought. Much more considered and dark than last week's slightly smug installment.
