This reminded me of a 1980s BBC kid's show that I thought was called "The Baker Street Irregulars". After much googling, it turns out I'm thinking of The Baker Street Boys. God bless the Internet.
My memories of it are vaguely positive, but as I was ten at the time, I'm not sure I still trust my judgement there. Frankly, I'm not sure that I trust my judgement now.
