Thanks. She was brighter by the end of last night and we finally managed to coax a feeble purr out of her.

I'll feel a lot better when the stupid collar's off, but taking it off for a short spell only to put it back on again would be cruel and/or foolhardy, so it'll have to stay on until the wound has healed a bit more.
